First 6 hours
Do
Gentle cool compress 10 minutes at a time.
Keep head elevated.
Avoid
Touching, pressing, or massaging the area.
Makeup on injection sites.
First 48 hours
Do
Sleep on your back with two pillows.
Light skincare only. Fragrance free moisturizer is best.
Optional bruise support: arnica or bromelain.
Avoid
Alcohol and salty foods that worsen swelling.
Exercise, saunas, hot tubs.
Air travel if you had extensive lip work and swelling is significant.
Days 3 to 7
Normal
Swelling peaks by 48 hours then declines.
Areas can feel firm or lumpy while gel integrates.
Avoid for 2 weeks
Dental work.
Facials, face massage, gua sha, microneedling, radiofrequency.
Sleeping face down or on your side if it pressures the treated area.
Lip filler specifics
Use straws minimally for 24 hours.
Cold sore history: begin or continue prophylaxis as directed.
Small lump protocol
Many settle as swelling resolves.
Do not massage unless your injector tells you to. If asked to massage, use clean hands and light circular motion 2 to 3 times daily for 48 hours.
